Promoting Finnish education to 2.1 million Finland fans
Finland University
Finland University was the international education brand, and marketing and sales company of four leading Finnish research universities: the University of Eastern Finland, Tampere University, the University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University.
Challenge
Despite its world-class education system, Finland is a relatively small player when it comes to attracting postgrads students. To overcome this, Finland University wanted to target students thinking of going to the UK, an educational superpower. The aim was to highlight to those worried by Brexit that there was another option available.
Solution
We came up with a social media campaign "Finn for the win!" which pitted Finland against the UK, by showcasing the numerous ways Finland beats UK when it comes to education. This didn't just involve study but all aspects of student life, such as food, travel and housing. The campaign, which lasted 2 months, consisted of a series of videos, blog posts and social content, which made both serious and playful comparisons.

.
Outcome
It was a winning formula. The campaign promoted via Very Finnish Problems' social channels and those of Finland University organically reached over 2 million people worldwide. The best performing video Wonderfully weird ways Finnish uni makes you feel special organically reached an audience of 130k. The best performing infographic 5 facts about the PhD sword and hat reached over 140K. What's more, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive with countless people highlight their interest in studying in Finland.
